Some food for thought

saw this in subha's blog which was thought provoking and i thought i would like to share it wif u ppl here as well....something for u guys to picture and pause for some moment...=)

Imagine for a second that you are carrying a backpack...
I want you to feel the straps on your shoulders...feel them?

I want you to pack all the stuff that u have in your life
You start with the little things,
Things on the shelves, in the drawers, the knicknacks, the collectibles,
Feel the weight it all adds up

Then u start adding the larger stuffs,
Clothes, table top appliances, lamps, linen, tv
The backpack should be getting heavy by now..

You go bigger,
Your couch, your kitchen table, stuff it all in there,
Your car, get it in there as well,
Your home, whether it is just your room or the whole hdb flat,
I want you to stuff all that into the backpack

Now try to walk, its kinda hard isnt it?
This is what we do to ourselves on a daily basis..
we weigh ourselves down til we cant even move and make no mistake
Moving is living

Now, im gonna set that backpack on fire.
What do u wanna take out of it? Your photos?
Photos are for ppl who cant rmb
Drink some gingko and let the photos burn
In fact, let everything burn and imagine waking up tmr wif nothing

it's kinda exhiliarating isnt it? So all that was just things, Here comes the difficult or say complicated part

Now u have a new backpack
Now this time i wan u to fill it with people
Start with casual acquaintances, friends of friends, folks around the office
And then u move into the people u trust with your most intimate secrets
Your cousins, uncle, aunts, brothers, sisters, parents
And finally your husband, your wife, your girlfriend/boyfriend
get them into that backpack

Don't worry im not going to ask u to set that backpack on fire
Feel the weight of the bag, make no mistake
Your relationships are the heaviest components in yr life
Feel the strap cutting into your shoulders
All those negotiations, arguments, secrets, compromises
You need to carry all that weight

Then u set that bag down
Some animals were meant to carry each other to live symbiotically for a lifetime
Star-crossed lovers, monogamous swans

We are not these animals
The slower we move, the faster we die
We are not swans, we're sharks

So are u beginning to wonder wat u have in yr backpack?

and now im adding on from here...

why do people add so much weight to their backpack when they know they cant move with all that stuff inside? and speaking from a Christian point of view, why cant we just give that whole backpack to Jesus...why is it so hard to surrender?
